Fashion Love Will Tear Us Apart

Looking outside at the dreary damp December weather, I assigned a soundtrack to my thoughts, JOY DIVISION’s Unknown Pleasures, which also happens to be one of my very favourite albums.

Check out JOY DIVISION’s single, Love Will Tear Us Apart, here.

I kept this theme in mind while getting dressed for my casual Friday…

I paired my Unknown Pleasures band tee with these VERY old authentically ripped Levi’s, my comfy toque and a simple black boyfriend blazer to add just a bit of polish.

DSC_0001I have had these Levi’s for about 12 years! They were once my very favourite jeans and now they are my favourite very authentically ripped jeans.

If you’re also a fan of JOY DIVISION, I encourage you to check out the Anton Corbijn film, Control, about the life of and death of singer, Ian Curtis.

I’d love to know what you thought of Control if you’ve seen it…

Have a lovely weekend!

Beauty Review: HD Brows

After several years of brow abuse, 5-10 minutes every morning had to be allocated for “brow damage control”, filling them in with a shadow and pencil concoction. And how is it that without changing anything, you can have an awesome brow day and then the following day it looks like a bad comb-over has been slapped over your eyes?!

It was time to step away from the tweezers and take control of the situation…

Thanks to the fabulous Mapleview Muse fashion event I attended recently, I had an offer for a free HD Brow treatment from Caryl Baker Visage in Mapleview Centre in Burlington, On.

I booked an appointment with Amanda, a very knowledgeable and friendly Face Expert.

An HD Brow treatment consists of a customized brow shaping, waxing and tweezing, a perfectly matched tint that last up to six weeks, and a suggested brow makeup filler to add that extra bit of pop and fill in any remaining patchy areas.

So below is my scary before shot that I took in the car before my appointment. As you can see, my brows had already been filled in, it took me my usual 5 to 10 minutes to get them just right that morning with my shadow/pencil concoction.

After a thorough explanation of the process, matching of shades, and allergy patch test of the dye, it was time to begin. Face Expert Amanda applied the tint first and then waxed and tweezed any stray brow hairs. She then applied this amazing Brow Extender, which fills in brows with natural fibers and Italian mineral pigments.

You can see the little fibers on the wand. The base has a clay texture and goes on very smoothly, one swipe is really all you need.

A couple of days later and I’m loving my tint. I wash my face and still look like I have normal eyebrows! This is after a day of work, I applied the Brow Extender as part of my now very simple and quick morning brow routine and it’s still holding up 12+ hours later.

I’m very happy with the natural look of the tint and Brow Extender combination. Please excuse my wonky close up shots 😛

I’m so excited to leave my tweezers alone and let my brows grow until it’s time for my next appointment with my new “Brow Buddy” 🙂

Have you tried an HD Brow treatment? If so, were you as happy with the result as I am?

Have a fabulous weekend beauty mavens and style warriors. XO.

Outfit of the Day: Soft Summer Blazer

Well, it’s officially August, one of my favourite months of the year. Unfortunately for heat lovers like me, it was a pretty cool morning. I chose this soft summer blazer and jeans to keep me warm (yes, I know, I’m such a suck). I completed the look with a simple white tee, my favourite necklace and simple brown sandals. I also tossed my hair up in a messy bun which was one part carefree and one part running out of time 🙂

Love the detailing on the inside of the blazer.

My favourite necklace purchased from a little boutique in Montreal.

So proud of my little blackberry bush, I’m standing in front of it in the images above. Homegrown is the tastiest!

I can’t wait for them all to ripen!

Outfit of the Day: BFF Adventures in the Royal Botanical Gardens

Yesterday was the best day ever. My best friend of 20 years and I finally got to spend the whole day together. We live in different cities so we don’t see each other as often as we would like to, but no matter how much time passes, we always have a blast.

We started with breakfast at The Harbour Diner and then headed to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, Ontario. We wandered through the beautiful gardens, stopped for a drink at the Tea House located in the middle of the garden, and continued our trek through the gardens. We explored until we almost passed out from the heat! We were determined to see everything.

We then headed to local restaurant, Radius, where we dined on their rooftop patio. It was a lovely way to wrap up our perfect day together.

I wore a breezy maxi skirt from Joe Fresh with a basic white tank, denim vest from Forever 21, sunnies from Target and sandals from Ardene.

Best friends for 20 years! I love this girl.

This little guy was swimming around in one of the many beautiful ponds at the gardens.

Tired out from walking in the heat.

Refueling with a relaxed dinner at Radius.

BFFs 4 Ever!

Outfit of the Day: Ahoy! Pirate Scarf & Cobalt Blue

Ahoy fellow fashion friends!

It was a cool summer day so I pulled out my comfy pirate scarf to keep me warm.  I purchased this beautiful scarf on a trip to Vieux Port de Montreal a few summers ago. The fashion options were as unique and beautiful as the city itself. J’adore Montreal!

I pulled from the cobalt blue and gold tones in the scarf when choosing my cardi, tee and flats. Because the gold and tan are so neutral, the blue cardi really helps the outfit pop.

Have you been to Montreal? Did you fall in love with the city like I did?

Outfit of the Day: Un-Boring Black & White

I’d like to prove something with today’s post; back & white head-to-toe can be exciting. I’m guilty of wanting to add a splash of colour to my outfits, as you’ve probably seen in my previous posts, but sometimes it’s ok to to just keep it monotone. A bold black & white print such as this maxi from Ardene, is can really spruce things up. The simple white tee I paired it with is from Giant Tiger.

Love this faux leather belt from Ardene.
